Getting Started With Projects

Projects
Projects help you organize your work on Emergent. Each project acts as a container for your jobs, deployments, and team members, giving you a clear workspace for different initiatives.
Getting Started
When you sign up for Emergent, we automatically create a Home project for you. This is your default workspace where you can start building right away.
You can create unlimited additional projects on any plan. Use projects to separate different apps, clients, or initiatives.
What's in a Project
Each project contains:
- Jobs — Your apps and work items, including their complete fork history
- Deployments — Live versions of your apps linked to jobs in the project
- Members — Team members with assigned roles and permissions
- Monthly credit limit — An optional spending cap for the project (unlimited by default)
Team Members & Roles
Invite collaborators to your project and assign them roles that control what they can do.
Roles
| Role | Permissions |
| Owner | Full control: create and edit jobs, manage deployments, transfer jobs between projects, add and remove members, assign roles, and set monthly credit limits |
| Editor | Create and edit jobs, create and replace deployments |
| Admin (coming soon) | Same as Owner, but cannot change monthly credit limits |
Note: The Admin role will be available in a future update.
Managing Members
- Owners can add and remove members from a project
- Owners can change member roles at any time
Pro Features
Projects inherit Pro features from the Owner's subscription. If the project Owner has a Pro plan, all Pro features are automatically enabled for everyone working in that project. If the Owner has a Standard plan, Pro features are not available in that project.
Moving Jobs Between Projects
You can transfer jobs from one project to another. When you transfer a job:
- The entire fork chain moves with it (all related forks, ancestors, and descendants)
- All deployments linked to that fork chain move to the new project
- Future credit usage for those deployments counts toward the new project
This makes it easy to reorganize your work or hand off apps to different teams.
Monthly Credit Limits
Each project can have a monthly credit spending limit to help you manage costs:
- By default, projects have no limit (unlimited spending)
- Owners can set a maximum credit limit for the project
- Limits reset at the start of each calendar month
- Credit usage from deployments counts toward the project's monthly limit
Note: Monthly credit limits will be available in a future update. Currently, all projects have unlimited spending.
Migrating from Teams
If you previously used Teams, your existing Teams have been automatically converted to Projects. All your jobs, deployments, and team members have been preserved. The experience is the same, just with a clearer name and expanded capabilities.
FAQ

Can I be a member of multiple projects?
Yes. You can be invited to any number of projects with different roles in each.
What happens to deployments when I transfer a job?
All deployments linked to the job (and its fork chain) move with it. Future credit usage is attributed to the new project.
Can Editors invite other members?
